On August 9th, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, according to the presidential press service reported.

The Head of State warmly congratulated the leader and the brotherly people of Azerbaijan on the historical event – the signing of the peace declaration between Azerbaijan and Armenia in Washington the day before.

Confidence was expressed that the speedy official conclusion of a peace agreement would be of great importance for ensuring peace, stability, and prosperity in the South Caucasus.

Topical issues of further development and strengthening of Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations of strategic partnership and alliance were also discussed in the context of the implementation of the agreements reached during the state visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Azerbaijan in July this year.

Fruitful contacts and exchanges continue at all levels. Since the beginning of the year, trade turnover has increased by 30 percent. A portfolio of promising cooperation projects is being formed in various sectors of the economy based on a “roadmap.” Practical work is underway within the framework of the signed Production Sharing Agreement on a strategic project in the oil and gas sector.
