On July 25, 2025, the World Aquatics Bureau General Meeting convened in Singapore. As per the agenda, members of the bureau from five regions were determined through elections. According to the results of these elections, Shakhnoza Shavkatovna Mirziyoyeva, First Deputy Chairman of the National Paralympic Committee of Uzbekistan, was elected as a member of the bureau for the Asian region.

She will now be responsible for the development of the Olympic movement in aquatic sports across the entire Asian continent.

The World Aquatics Bureau is one of the governing bodies of the international organization managing aquatic sports (formerly FINA). This structure, consisting of 40 members led by the President, defines the organization’s political directions, performs executive and supervisory functions, and coordinates activities in various continents.

Bureau members are elected at the General Meeting, which is held every two years.

A bureau member has the right to fully participate and vote in bureau sessions. They represent regional interests on an international scale, participate in the strategic decision-making process, and actively participate in the work of various commissions and working groups. They provide practical support to the President’s activities.

For information: Approximately 44 national federations from the Asian region are members of World Aquatics.
