A holiday programme that provides school holiday clubs for thousands of children in Cornwall has received an extension.
The Time2Move initiative supports families by offering activities and nutritious meals for children aged five to 16. It is fully funded for those eligible for benefits-related free school meals, according to government confirmation.
As part of a national investment of £600 million, the government has announced a three-year extension for the scheme.
Active Cornwall, which coordinates providers across the county to run the programme, reports that £8 million has been invested in Time2Move since 2021.
Tim Marrion, partnership manager at Active Cornwall, stated: “We recognize that school holidays can present unique challenges for lower-income families. Children can experience a combination of social isolation, poor nutrition, and reduced physical activity during these periods.”
“Our Time2Move programme makes a tangible difference for over 12,000 children and their families annually, making this funding extension highly welcome news.”
The Department for Education fully funds the programme, which is nationally recognized as the Holiday Activities and Food Programme.
