Russell Brand Faces Further Charges of Rape and Sexual Assault

Russell Brand has been charged with two additional offenses, including one count of rape, according to a statement released by the Metropolitan Police.

The police force stated that the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has authorized a further charge of rape and a charge of sexual assault pertaining to allegations made by two additional women.

The broadcaster, comedian, and actor had previously entered a not guilty plea to five charges, encompassing two counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault, and one count of indecent assault, all involving four women.

Mr. Brand, 50, is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on January 20, 2026, concerning the two new charges.

Detectives initiated an investigation into allegations against Mr. Brand following reports published by the Sunday Times, the Times, and Channel 4’s Dispatches in September 2023.

The CPS indicated that the two new charges allegedly occurred in 2009 and involve separate women.

A trial is slated to commence at Southwark Crown Court on June 16, 2026, for the original five charges, which allegedly took place on dates spanning between 1999 and 2005 in central London and Bournemouth.

Mr. Brand, residing in Oxfordshire, is accused of raping one woman in Bournemouth in 1999 and indecently assaulting another in the Westminster area by grabbing her arm and forcibly leading her towards a male restroom in 2001.

A third charge alleges he sexually assaulted a woman by kissing and groping her in Westminster between 2004 and 2005, while the remaining counts relate to the alleged oral rape and sexual assault of another woman in 2004 in the Westminster area.

Det Ch Insp Tariq Farooqi of the Metropolitan Police has stated that the women who have filed reports are receiving support from specially trained officers.

Mr. Brand, born in Essex, gained prominence as a stand-up comedian and became a well-known personality as the host of television programs such as Big Brother’s Big Mouth, as well as his own radio shows on stations including BBC Radio 2 and 6 Music.

He later established a career in Hollywood, appearing in films such as Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Get Him To The Greek.
