Police Seek Washington Man in Triple Homicide of Daughters

Authorities in Washington state are actively pursuing Travis Decker, 32, in connection with the deaths of his three young daughters. He is charged with kidnapping and first-degree murder.

The Wenatchee Police Department reports that Decker’s daughters, aged nine, eight, and five, were found deceased at a remote campground. The cause of death is believed to be suffocation.

Decker, described as an outdoorsman with potential military survival training, is suspected of evading capture by utilizing his expertise in remote areas. The mountainous terrain and dense forests of the state are hindering the search effort.

Law enforcement officials warn that Decker poses a significant risk if confronted. A motive for the alleged crime has not yet been established.

The children’s mother reported them missing on May 30th after Decker failed to return them following a visit and ignored her calls. Their bodies were discovered near the campground on June 2nd.

Decker’s cell phone and truck were found at the scene, but he remains at large. Chelan County Sheriff Mike Morrison issued a public plea for Decker’s surrender during a Wednesday press conference.

Sheriff Morrison emphasized the gravity of the situation, stating that “no motive would be acceptable,” and highlighting Decker’s potential for extended survival in the wilderness due to his skills and possibly pre-positioned supplies.

The search involves the FBI and other agencies. Sheriff Morrison noted Decker’s past instances of extended periods off-grid, potentially lasting up to two and a half months.

The US Marshals Service has offered a $20,000 reward for information leading to Decker’s apprehension. The ongoing search has necessitated closures of several national forests popular with hikers.

Sheriff Morrison concluded his statement with an appeal to Decker, urging a peaceful resolution and emphasizing the need for accountability for his actions. “Let’s wrap this up and do what’s right for your kids,” he pleaded.
