Vitor Pereira managed four clubs in four years before taking charge of Wolves
Wolverhampton Wanderers have announced that manager Vitor Pereira has signed a new three-year contract extension at Molineux.
Pereira, who arrived in December 2024 with Wolves languishing in 19th place in the Premier League, successfully steered the West Midlands club to a 16th-place finish last season, ensuring their safety in the top flight.
The 57-year-old’s previous contract was set to expire in the summer of 2026, but this new agreement extends his tenure.
The announcement comes as Wolves currently sit at the bottom of the league table, having lost their first four matches of the season.
Chairman Jeff Shi commented, “Vitor has made a very positive impact during his time at Wolves. He’s brought clarity, energy and a team spirit that gives us a foundation to be successful.”
“Now is a time for stability. Vitor needs time to work with the squad, to build a chemistry with new players, and we will do everything to support him and his staff.”
Wolves experienced significant player departures during the summer transfer window, including Matheus Cunha’s £62.5m move to Manchester United, Rayan Ait-Nouri’s £31m transfer to Manchester City, and Nelson Semedo’s departure to Fenerbahce.
Speculation surrounding the future of Norwegian striker Jorgen Strand Larsen also created unwanted distractions during Wolves’ challenging start to the campaign, as the Portuguese manager worked to integrate five new signings into the team.
“We will increase our level, with [the] ambition to make our supporters proud on the pitch,” stated Pereira.
“I’m very proud to be Wolves head coach. It’s an honour for me. This is the moment that we need to be united.”
