Pensioners to Receive Additional Air Fryers

North Lincolnshire Council is set to distribute additional air fryers to pensioners in an effort to alleviate household expenses.

Following a similar initiative last winter, the council provided 8,000 appliances, including 6,000 energy-efficient cooking devices, to residents.

A public Freedom of Information request revealed that the council allocated over £650,000 to the program.

Funding for the initiative was secured from a £2.3 million grant provided by the government’s Household Support Fund.

According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, details of this year’s scheme were discussed during a recent council meeting.

Council leader Rob Waltham characterized the project as “hugely popular.”

He stated, “We know many pensioners continue to struggle with the cost of living crisis.”

“Being able to support all older residents to eat healthily and keep energy bills down is important, we know it matters.”

In addition to air fryers, residents can also apply for slow cookers and one-cup kettles.

Eligible individuals can register online or through their local community center, with device distribution scheduled to commence in September.
