Ozzy Osbourne: Celebrated in Birmingham Exhibitions

Birmingham will host two city-center exhibitions celebrating Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath, honoring “a true Brummie icon,” according to organizers.

These exhibitions, timed to coincide with the band’s final Birmingham reunion show in July, represent “a thank you to the fans and the city of Birmingham – where it all began,” said Sharon Osbourne, Ozzy’s wife.

“Ozzy embodies the power of passion, grit, and a touch of madness to achieve the extraordinary, regardless of your origins. We’re immensely proud to bring this celebration home.”

A free exhibition, “Working Class Hero,” at the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, will showcase Ozzy’s prestigious accolades, including Grammys and his Hollywood Walk of Fame star.

Platinum and gold records, symbolizing millions of albums sold, will also be on display, alongside photographs and videos chronicling Ozzy’s journey from “a working-class kid from Aston” to global rock stardom.

Victoria Square will feature additional images from the band’s archives and iconic album artwork.

Mr. Murals has created a 120ft (36.5m) mural depicting Black Sabbath’s original four members on Navigation Street near Grand Central Station, providing the “perfect spot for a Sabbath Selfie,” according to organizers.

Sam Watson, chair of Central BID Birmingham, a co-organizer, calls the exhibitions a “celebration of our city’s creativity, heritage, and influence – a chance for fans to walk in the footsteps of legends.” Organizers describe the combined exhibitions as a “landmark tribute to one of history’s most influential rock bands.”

Sara Wajid and Zak Mensah, joint chief executives of Birmingham Museums Trust, added, “Celebrating the life and achievements of someone so deeply connected to our city perfectly aligns with our mission to reflect and share Birmingham’s rich and diverse cultural heritage.”

“Working Class Hero” runs at the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery from June 25th to September 28th.
