Noel Gallagher has expressed that he and his Oasis bandmates have been “completely blown away” by the overwhelmingly positive reception to their reunion tour, marking their return after a 16-year hiatus.
In a conversation with talkSport’s Andy Goldstein regarding their performances across the UK and Ireland, Gallagher conveyed his “pride” in his younger brother, frontman Liam, while noting that “it’s been great to be back” performing alongside him.
Following their recent show at Croke Park in Dublin, Oasis is set to embark on a North American leg of the tour, before returning to the UK for additional dates at Wembley Stadium in London next month.
The singer-songwriter confessed that he found it “difficult to put it into words” at this juncture, admitting that his legs had “turned to jelly” at the commencement of their inaugural performance in Cardiff back in July.
“Every night is the crowd’s first night,” he observed. “So every night’s got that same energy to it, but it’s been truly amazing.
“I’m not usually short for words, but I can’t really articulate it at the minute.”
Last year’s ticket release generated significant online buzz, albeit amidst controversy surrounding dynamic pricing, which left many fans unable to secure tickets or facing inflated prices. The brothers’ initial reunion on stage occurred at the packed Principality Stadium in Cardiff, with both raising their arms in a celebratory gesture.
This reunion followed years of solo endeavors and publicly aired disputes between the estranged Gallagher siblings.
BBC music correspondent Mark Savage observed that the band sounded the “best they’ve been since the ’90s” upon their return, writing that it felt “like a reconciliation – or a sigh of relief – as the brothers buried the hatchet of a decades-long feud and reconnected with their fans”.
In comments made on Tuesday, believed to be his first public remarks regarding the comeback tour – which has also included stops in their hometown of Manchester and Edinburgh – Noel Gallagher acknowledged, “I grossly underestimated what I was getting into.”
“After about five minutes [in Cardiff], I was like, alright can I just go back to the dressing room and start this again?”
“I’ve done stadiums before and all that but I don’t mind telling you, my legs had turned to jelly after about halfway through the second song [Acquiese, which sees the brothers duet together]. And I could have done with going back and taking a minute.
“But it’s been an amazing thing.”
When asked about his reaction to his brother’s on-stage hug at the conclusion of the first show, Gallagher responded, “We’re not those kind of guys really, you know what I mean?”
“It’s great just to be back with Bonehead [Oasis’s founding guitarist] and Liam and just be doing it again.
“I guess when it’s all said and done, we’ll sit and reflect on it. But it’s great being back in the band with Liam – I forgot how funny he was.”
He further commented that Liam was “smashing it” and that he was “proud of him,” jokingly attributing his apparent return to vocal form to “AI.”
The 58-year-old, who performs vocals on five of the 23 songs each night, elaborated: “Having fronted a band [Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds] for 16 years. I know how difficult that is.
“I couldn’t do the stadium thing like he does it; it’s not in my nature. But I’ve got to say, I think, you know, good for you mate. He’s been amazing.”
He deflected an inquiry regarding the band’s future beyond the tour’s scheduled conclusion in November.
The Oasis Live ’25 reunion tour has consistently garnered significant media attention since its commencement.
A fan died after falling from a height at one of the band’s Wembley Stadium concerts earlier this month.
Additionally, Wembley authorities have initiated an investigation into allegations that numerous Oasis fans were able to gain unauthorized entry to one of the venue’s concerts.
The tour has also been marked by several viral moments, including a marriage proposal at Murrayfield, where Liam also publicly criticized the City of Edinburgh Council, calling them “a bunch of snakes” in response to a report that characterized the band’s fans as potentially “rowdy” and “intoxicated.”
During the Dublin show, the singer dedicated their song Stand By Me to their mother, Peggy, who was in attendance, while Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola received a shout-out and was photographed backstage with the children of Liam and Noel at Heaton Park.
The band is scheduled to perform next in Toronto on Sunday evening.
The US rapper was due to perform at the London festival and then in Bristol and Paris, which she has also cancelled.
The three-day festival on Southsea’s vast seaside common kicks off on Friday.
Perrie Edwards says she suffered two miscarriages, with one at six months leaving her “distraught”.
Jorja Smith, Ezra Collective and Orbital are among the line-up at the Bristol festival this weekend.
The singer opens up about how eating binges and gym training habits can affect his mental health.
