President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the operations of a multidisciplinary cardiology center in Shakhrisabz city, according to the presidential press service.
Strengthening public health is a key aspect of Uzbekistan’s social policy. The nation is progressively implementing reforms in this sector, modernizing public healthcare institutions, attracting investment, and actively developing the private sector. In Qashqadaryo region alone, over 700 private clinics currently operate, providing 72 types of medical services.
One recent addition is the “Ok Saroy” clinic, a new facility established in partnership with a Russian investor. It boasts four operating rooms, six intensive care units, and over 100 beds. The clinic can perform up to four cardiac surgeries simultaneously and up to 25 per day. Experienced specialists from Russia, Turkey, and Kuwait have been recruited. Complex procedures such as stenting, coronary artery bypass grafting, congenital defect correction, and endoprosthetics are performed.
The center also provides advanced diagnostic services. For instance, its state-of-the-art echocardiography unit utilizes artificial intelligence—currently the only such device in the country.
The President noted that such innovative clinics not only redefine treatment standards but also elevate perceptions of healthcare quality, inspiring transformation in other institutions.
“We must use this experience as a foundation and create similar clinics in at least 14 regions. The cost is irrelevant—we will find the resources. The priority is ensuring high-quality and accessible care for the people. Without alternatives and competition, there will be no drive for quality,” emphasized Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The President instructed officials to develop proposals for scaling this model, integrating the clinics with primary healthcare and medical insurance systems.
The clinic has created 130 jobs and established a clinical residency program to train qualified specialists.
The President also stressed the importance of upgrading the skills of students and doctors, and developing telemedicine in collaboration with international experts.
Qashqadaryo region experiences a high prevalence of cardiovascular diseases, largely attributed to dietary issues. The new cardiology center and its diagnostic unit are crucial for early detection and effective treatment of these conditions.
Furthermore, the facility operates mobile diagnostic units that travel to remote areas, providing ultrasound, CT, ECG, and other medical services on-site.
