BAKU /Trend/ – Following continued Israeli attacks on Iran, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi stated there is no basis for further negotiations with the U.S. regarding Iran’s nuclear program.
As reported Saturday by Trend, Araghchi made this declaration during a phone conversation with the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell.
He described the Israeli attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities as wholly illegal, asserting that the resolution against Iran, approved by the U.S. and three European nations within the International Atomic Energy Agency, provided both the pretext and justification for these strikes.
The foreign minister emphasized Iran’s expectation that all peace-supporting nations would condemn the Israeli actions.
“Iran has resolutely responded to Israel’s attacks, defending its sovereignty and security, and insists on exercising its legitimate right to reciprocal measures,” Araghchi noted.
Borrell expressed concern over the escalating regional tension and affirmed the EU’s commitment to supporting diplomatic efforts within the Security Council to ensure peace and de-escalate the situation.
It is recalled that on June 13th, Israel launched air strikes against Iran. These attacks resulted in numerous high-profile military casualties, including Chief of Staff Mohammad Hossein Bagheri, and several members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), among them IRGC Commander Hossein Salami, Khatam al-Anbiya headquarters commander Gholam Ali Rashid, six nuclear scientists and other senior officials.
That evening, Iran retaliated against Israel with over 150 ballistic missiles and 100 drones launched against Tel Aviv and other areas, causing civilian casualties and extensive damage.
