Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev will participate in a high-level summit in the “Central Asia – Italy” format at the invitation of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The summit will be held on May 30th in Astana, according to a statement from the Uzbek President’s press service.
The summit will include regional leaders and the Italian Prime Minister.
The agenda will focus on expanding multilateral cooperation, particularly in green economy, investment, innovation, science, and education.
Giorgia Meloni initially planned a visit to Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan from April 25th to 27th, but the trip was postponed following the death of Pope Francis. The Italian Prime Minister subsequently undertook an official visit to Samarkand from May 28th to 29th.
