Minnesota Lawmakers’ Homes Targeted in Shootings

Authorities in Minnesota have issued a shelter-in-place order near Minneapolis following a series of targeted shootings overnight.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz confirmed Saturday morning that the shootings occurred in Champlin and Brooklyn Park, neighboring cities near Minneapolis.

The Brooklyn Park Police Department implemented a shelter-in-place order within a three-mile radius of the Edinburgh Golf Course.

Mounds View Mayor Zach Lindstrom reported receiving a safety alert, relaying the information via X (formerly Twitter).

Local reports indicate authorities are advising residents to only answer their doors for police officers if two officers are present simultaneously, due to concerns about an individual impersonating an officer.

Mayor Lindstrom stated, “My understanding is that it’s someone impersonating an officer, and they haven’t been apprehended.”

Governor Walz announced on X that state authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have activated the State Emergency Operations Center.
