Manchester United Submits Improved £60m Bid for Striker Mbeumo

Manchester United have submitted a significantly improved bid, exceeding £60 million, for Brentford striker Bryan Mbeumo.

This follows an earlier £45 million offer (plus £10 million in potential add-ons) which was rejected.

Negotiations for the 25-year-old Cameroonian international are expected to continue this week. He would be United’s second summer signing.

This follows the club’s £62.5 million acquisition of Matheus Cunha from Wolves. United aim to bolster their squad before pre-season training commences on July 7th.

While new Tottenham manager Thomas Frank expressed interest in reuniting with Mbeumo, other Champions League clubs have also shown interest.

Brentford reportedly seeks a fee comparable to Cunha’s transfer fee, given Mbeumo has one year remaining on his contract.

Financial Implications of the Mbeumo Deal

Mbeumo’s Premier League experience is considered a significant asset, aligning with manager Ruben Amorim’s need for players who can make an immediate impact, aiming for a stronger start to the season compared to the previous campaign under Erik ten Hag.

Mbeumo enjoyed a prolific season with Brentford, scoring 20 goals and contributing 9 assists.

As a teammate of United goalkeeper Andre Onana in the Cameroonian national team, Mbeumo’s participation in the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco (December 24th kickoff) means he will likely miss approximately four weeks of the 2025-26 season.

The renewed pursuit of Mbeumo comes amidst uncertainty surrounding Alejandro Garnacho after a social media post featuring him in an Aston Villa shirt with ‘Rashford’ on the back.

Marcus Rashford responded with a supportive message to Garnacho, who has been valued at £60 million and instructed by Amorim to seek a new club.
