Man Self-Immolates at Almaty Airport (Video)

A man in Almaty, Kazakhstan, reportedly attempted self-immolation at the city’s airport. The incident was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan.

“On August 25, 2025, at 22:06, a man attempted self-immolation near the ticket office in Terminal T-1 of Almaty Airport,” the statement read.

Authorities stated that police officers, along with airport security personnel, immediately took safety measures, extinguishing the fire and calling an ambulance. Medical personnel transported the man to a city hospital.

Footage circulating online shows a man wearing a baseball cap and jacket standing near a ticket counter. A fire then ignites, and he runs out before falling to the floor. Onlookers extinguish the flames with fire extinguishers.

The department has opened a criminal case regarding the incident.

According to the Almaty Public Health Department, the patient was taken by ambulance to City Clinical Hospital No. 4 and admitted to the intensive care unit.
