Man Indicted in Connection to Fatal Shooting of Infant in New York City

A 21-year-old man has been charged with murder in New York following the death of a seven-month-old infant who was fatally shot while in her stroller.

Amuri Greene faces three counts of murder and one count of attempted murder. Authorities allege he fatally shot Kaori Patterson-Moore on April 1, according to reports. BBC News, a U.S. partner, reported on the case.

Greene entered a plea of not guilty during his Friday court appearance, CBS News, the BBC’s U.S. partner, reported. Law enforcement officials believe the infant was an unintended victim of a shooting linked to gang activity.

Police have also reported the arrest of a second suspect, Matthew Rodriguez, 18, in Pennsylvania. Charges are pending against Rodriguez in connection with the shooting.

Surveillance footage reportedly depicts two individuals on a motorcycle traveling against traffic in Brooklyn’s Williamsburg neighborhood. Authorities stated that the passenger then brandished a firearm and discharged it.

CBS News reported that officers believe Greene was the shooter and was riding on the back of the scooter at the time of the incident.

Following the shooting, Greene was reportedly ejected from the vehicle and taken to a local hospital for treatment, where he was then taken into police custody.

CBS News also reported that Greene pleaded not guilty to charges that include five counts of criminal possession of a weapon, two counts of attempted criminal possession of a weapon, and two counts of assault.

Rodriguez is believed to have been the driver of the scooter. Police said the driver crashed into oncoming traffic after the gunfire and fled the scene.
