A man has been charged with stalking Liberal Democrats leader Sir Ed Davey and his family, allegedly targeting them over several months.

Inigo Rowland, 58, faces charges including possession of a flick-knife. He is accused of appearing “unannounced” at the Kingston and Surbiton MP’s home in south-west London on “numerous” occasions between June and October, according to court records.

Rowland, from Surbiton, appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on October 7 and was remanded in custody, the Metropolitan Police have confirmed.

Sir Ed Davey, 59, and his wife Emily have two children: a 17-year-old son, John, who has a neurological condition and learning difficulties, and a daughter, Ellie.

Sir Ed first won the Kingston and Surbiton constituency in 1997, lost the seat in 2015, and regained it in 2017. He was elected leader of the Liberal Democrats three years later.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police stated that Mr. Rowland was arrested on October 6 in connection with alleged offences spanning June to October.

He is scheduled to appear at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court again on Tuesday.

A Liberal Democrats spokesperson stated: “We cannot provide any details at this time; Ed’s number-one priority is the safety of his family.”
