Lippert Victorious in Giro Donne Stage Six

Liane Lippert secured her first stage victory in a year at the Women’s Giro d’Italia.

Germany’s Liane Lippert triumphed in stage six of the Women’s Giro d’Italia, while her Movistar team-mate, Marlen Reusser, maintained her overall lead.

The 27-year-old Lippert was part of a two-rider breakaway within the final 10km of the 145km stage to Terre Roveresche. She ultimately outpaced Fenix-Deceuninck’s Pauliena Rooijakkers in a sprint to the finish line.

This victory marks Lippert’s first stage win since stage six of the previous year’s Giro.

“I’m super happy! I had a really good day today. The team was on fire, and everyone truly believed in me,” Lippert stated.

“It’s been a long process, and I’m incredibly pleased to finally achieve a win, my first of the season.”

Lidl-Trek’s Shirin van Anrooij finished third, trailing Lippert by 46 seconds.

Meanwhile, Switzerland’s Reusser finished within the peloton, retaining the pink jersey and preserving a 16-second advantage over defending champion, Italy’s Elisa Longo Borghini.

Dutch rider Rooijakkers has moved up to fourth place overall following her second-place finish.
