Kyrgyzstan Amends Presidential and Parliamentary Election Law

BISHKEK /Trend/ – Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov signed the law “On Amending the Constitutional Law of the Kyrgyz Republic “On Elections of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic and Deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic,” passed by parliament on April 30, 2025.

Trend news agency reported on Monday, citing the Presidential Administration.

The document aims to improve the procedure for parliamentary elections, combat political corruption, and increase public trust in elected officials.

Under the new norms, 30 multi-member territorial electoral districts will be created for parliamentary elections, each electing three deputies.

The law also allows for remote and electronic voting, a decision on which is made when elections are scheduled.

Political parties and individual citizens through self-nomination are granted the right to nominate candidates. To save budget funds, repeat elections in the event of a deputy’s withdrawal from multi-member constituencies will not be held.
