How Clean Is Your House Star Aggie MacKenzie Pays Tribute to Kim Woodburn
Television personality Aggie MacKenzie has shared a heartfelt tribute to her former How Clean Is Your House co-star, Kim Woodburn, who passed away at age 83.
The pair rose to fame in 2003 on the Channel 4 show, known for its visits to messy homes and subsequent transformations.
MacKenzie told The Sun: “Kim was a tormented soul, but now she’s finally at peace. We clashed often. Behind the fierce persona was deep pain and incredible strength. She survived because she had to. I hope she’s resting now. She was an unforgettable woman.”
MacKenzie and Woodburn were unfamiliar before How Clean Is Your House, paired after a screen test. Woodburn also enjoyed success on Celebrity Big Brother and was recognized for her outspoken nature.
Woodburn’s manager announced her death to BBC News, stating: “It is with immense sadness that we let you know our beloved Kim Woodburn passed away yesterday following a short illness. Kim was an incredibly kind, caring, charismatic and strong person. Her husband Peter is heartbroken at the loss of his soulmate. We are so proud of the amazing things Kim achieved in her life and career. We kindly ask that Kim’s husband and close friends are given the time and privacy they need to grieve.”
A post on Woodburn’s official Instagram account, managed by her husband, read: “My wonderful, beautiful Kim passed away last night. God bless, my love,” alongside numerous photographs.
Numerous tributes poured in, including from Jedward, fellow Celebrity Big Brother alum, who shared their condolences. “Rest in Peace My Lovely,” they wrote. “You had our back when we got bullied in CBB and we will never forget that. There will never be another Kim Woodburn.”
Producer Lee Smithurst, Eurovision 2023 showrunner, shared a touching anecdote on X.
Woodburn was a frequent contributor to Loose Women and This Morning, known for her candid opinions. Her 2017 appearance on Celebrity Big Brother propelled her to widespread recognition, spawning numerous memes. A notable feud with Coleen Nolan on the show led to a highly publicized and emotional confrontation on Loose Women in 2018.
The intense exchange generated over 3,000 Ofcom complaints. Other notable appearances include I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, where she was runner-up in 2009, and Celebrity Cooking School in 2022. However, it was How Clean Is Your House that solidified her status as a beloved television personality.
Liverpool radio presenter Pete Price expressed his admiration on X, while pop culture writer Nick Levine commented on her lasting impact.
Born in Hampshire, Woodburn moved to Liverpool at 16, later settling in Nantwich, Cheshire, with her husband Peter, whom she married in 1979. In interviews, she openly discussed her challenging childhood and the loss of a child, highlighting her resilience and strength.
