Kelly Osbourne has expressed profound grief, stating she has lost her “best friend” following the death of her father, Ozzy Osbourne.
The heavy metal icon passed away on Tuesday at the age of 76.
His death comes shortly after a poignant final performance with Black Sabbath in his hometown of Birmingham.
The concert held particular significance for Kelly, who became engaged backstage to her longtime partner, Sid Wilson of Slipknot.
Numerous family members were present at Villa Park to support the “Prince of Darkness” in what would be his last show.
The performance also featured appearances from prominent musicians such as Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones, Metallica, and Guns N’ Roses.
Black Sabbath, his band, are widely credited with inventing heavy metal.
In 2003, Ozzy and Kelly Osbourne released a cover of the Black Sabbath song “Changes,” which reached number one on the UK singles chart.
In her first public statement since his passing, Kelly Osbourne shared lyrics from the song on Instagram, accompanied by a broken heart emoji: “I feel unhappy I am so sad. I lost the best friend I ever had.”
The father-daughter duo were known for their close bond.
They famously starred in the MTV reality TV show “The Osbournes” from 2002-2005, which depicted Ozzy as the well-meaning, albeit often bewildered, head of a chaotic household.
More recently, they revived their family podcast alongside Sharon and Jack Osbourne.
On Tuesday, the Osbourne family released a statement expressing their grief: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love.”
The cause of death was not specified, though Ozzy Osbourne had faced a series of health challenges, including a Parkinson’s diagnosis in 2019.
