BISHKEK/ Trend/ – Trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan increased by 43.5% in the first quarter of 2025, Trend reports.
According to data from the Ministry of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan, the volume of mutual trade for the reporting period amounted to $99.9 million. Exports from Kazakhstan reached $80.1 million, an increase of 44.3%, while imports from Kyrgyzstan totaled $19.8 million, which is 39% more compared to the same period in 2024.
At the end of the 2024 fiscal year, the total trade volume between the two countries amounted to $350.9 million, which is 8.4% more than in 2023.
These figures were announced by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, Baglan Bekbauov, at a meeting of the Kazakh-Kyrgyz working group on agricultural cooperation. During the meeting, the parties discussed the development of a strategic program to increase mutual supplies of agricultural products in 2024–2025.
Key projects include the holding of a pilot agricultural exhibition of Kyrgyz products in Astana. An agreement was also reached on optimizing trade between the Talas region of Kyrgyzstan and the Zhambyl region of Kazakhstan and considering measures to increase cargo traffic at border checkpoints.
