U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance is scheduled to meet with Conservative shadow justice secretary Robert Jenrick at his residence during his holiday in the United Kingdom.

Sources at the BBC indicate that Vance’s team extended an invitation to Jenrick for a private meeting with the Vice President in the Cotswolds on Tuesday.

Vance and his family are currently spending their summer holiday in the region of southwest England, away from Washington D.C.

The BBC has reached out to a spokesperson for Vance for comment.

Prior to this, Vance arrived in the UK last week and engaged in discussions with David Lammy regarding Gaza and other international matters at Chevening House in Kent, the official residence of the foreign secretary, on Friday.

A meeting is not planned between the Vice President and Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch, who was addressing business owners in the Isle of Wight on Tuesday.

According to a Conservative spokesman, aides for both Badenoch and Vance discussed the possibility of a meeting, but scheduling conflicts prevented it from occurring.

Badenoch previously met Vance during a visit to Washington D.C. last year, and the two had dinner together.

Jenrick, who was a contender against Badenoch in the previous Tory leadership election, will be meeting Vance for the first time in the Cotswolds.

The Tory shadow secretary of state and Vance share aligned perspectives on various policy issues, including immigration and free speech.

Vance’s trip includes a number of official engagements, meetings, and visits to cultural sites.

Over the weekend, Vance and his family participated in a guided tour of Hampton Court Palace, the former residence of Henry VIII.

Residents of the hamlet of Dean in Oxfordshire have experienced disruptions due to road closures implemented for the Vice President’s visit.

The village and a manor house in the area have been under heightened security since Vance’s arrival on Sunday evening.

The Vice President was also seen at a farm shop near Chipping Norton, in proximity to the home of former UK Prime Minister Lord David Cameron.

Vance’s visit precedes the anticipated second state visit to the UK by U.S. President Donald Trump next month, following his private visit to Scotland in July.
