Jay Blades of ‘The Repair Shop’ Faces Rape Accusation in Court

Jay Blades, the television personality renowned for hosting the BBC program “The Repair Shop,” has appeared before Telford Magistrates’ Court, facing two charges of rape.

Mr. Blades, whose full name is Jason Blades, participated in the hearing via video link. He did not enter a plea.

The alleged incidents are reported to have occurred between November 2022 and April 2024.

Mr. Blades, a resident of Claverley, Shropshire, was granted conditional bail and is scheduled to appear at Shrewsbury Crown Court on September 10.

The court has instructed Mr. Blades not to make any contact with the complainant.

The 55-year-old confirmed his name, address, and date of birth during the proceedings, and expressed his gratitude to the judge at the conclusion of the hearing.

Mr. Blades rose to prominence as a familiar face on British television following the debut of “The Repair Shop” in 2017, a show centered around members of the public bringing in cherished possessions and heirlooms for restoration.

His hosting credits also include “Money for Nothing,” “Jay Blades’ Home Fix,” and “Jay and Dom’s Home Fix.” In 2022, he presented a documentary chronicling his journey of learning to read at the age of 51.

He stepped back from presenting “The Repair Shop” last year.
