Israel’s UN Envoy Calls Iran Strikes a Necessary Response to Nuclear Threat

BAKU /Trend/ – Israel’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Danny Danon, defended his country’s recent strikes on Iranian territory during a Security Council meeting. He characterized the operation as a necessary measure to prevent an imminent nuclear threat, reports Trend.

Danon stated that Israel waited until Iran enriched uranium to 60% – a level with no peaceful justification – while simultaneously obstructing IAEA inspectors, destroying surveillance equipment, and advancing its nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs.

He explained that the Israeli Air Force conducted precise strikes targeting missile launch sites, storage facilities, and an underground facility in Natanz. According to Israeli intelligence, this facility was days away from producing material for several nuclear warheads.

“This regime openly dreams of wiping Israel off the map. We could not allow weapons of such power to fall into their hands,” he emphasized.

Furthermore, Danon sharply criticized the UN Security Council’s inaction in the face of Tehran’s nuclear ambitions: “You convened emergency meetings when Hamas was under threat, but remained silent as Iran crossed one red line after another. We acted to protect the lives of our people,” he declared.
