An electricity event is scheduled to take place in Guernsey, aiming to provide residents with strategies to reduce energy bills during the winter months.
Guernsey Electricity will host the Powering Life for Less Show at St Pierre Park Hotel, running from 10:00 to 15:00 BST.
Gareth Wordingham, representing Guernsey Electricity, stated that the event will offer guidance on optimizing appliance usage.
“Our objective is to assist the Guernsey community in lowering expenses related to energy consumption and overall household costs,” he explained.
Mr. Wordingham added, “We have collaborated with various entities to provide valuable savings opportunities and practical advice for residents to implement at home.”
Customer service advisors will be available to address billing inquiries, alongside representatives from The Repair Cafe, Guernsey Welfare Service, and the Little Green Energy Company.
Mr. Wordingham highlighted several measures customers can take to conserve energy and reduce costs, including utilizing electricity during off-peak hours.
“Approximately 90% of Guernsey customers have access to a two-rate meter and are enrolled in the super economy 12 plan. By shifting electricity usage to these discounted periods, consumers can potentially save over 50%,” he noted.
He further indicated that utilizing eco mode on washing machines and dishwashers could result in savings exceeding 35%.
“Our team will be present to guide individuals on optimizing immersion heater settings to minimize unnecessary operation and associated expenses,” he concluded.
