Iran: 46 Injured in Sandstorm-Related Crash

ZAHIDAN, Iran (Trend) — A multi-vehicle collision on the Zahedan-Zabol highway in Iran’s southeastern Sistan and Baluchestan province this morning left 46 people injured, according to local officials.

Zabol University of Medical Sciences Chancellor Hossein Shahdadi reported that 36 individuals received outpatient treatment while 10 others required hospitalization.

Shahdadi attributed the accident to a severe sandstorm that hampered emergency response efforts in the province.

Consequently, the Sistan and Baluchestan provincial Roads and Transportation Department has indefinitely closed the Zabol-Zahedan highway due to the ongoing sandstorm.
