Gaming Gran, TikTok Star, Passes Away at 78: A Life Celebrated

Agnes, a Dunfermline grandmother who garnered significant popularity on TikTok, has passed away at the age of 78.

Known online as EpicGamerGrandma, Agnes died in hospital on Sunday, surrounded by her family, following complications from a stroke she suffered in October.

Her TikTok account boasts a substantial following of 2.4 million users and has accumulated 81 million likes. Her content featured Agnes engaging in gaming, utilizing soundboards, and experimenting with face filters.

The announcement of her passing was made by her grandson, Dylan King, in an Instagram post on Tuesday. He noted that she exemplified that “age really is just a number.”

In a statement shared online, Dylan expressed the family’s pride, stating, “(We are) proud of the woman she was long before anyone knew her online.”

He continued, “Proud of the mum and grandma who held our family together and proud of the way she spent her later years proving that life does not end at a certain age, it only changes shape.”

Dylan added, “For most of her life, Agnes was not an influencer. She was a daughter, a sister, a mum, a grandma, a neighbour, a friend.”

“She was the person who made sure everyone else was fed before she even thought of herself. She was the one who remembered birthdays, who called just to check in, who quietly carried more than she ever let on. She was home.”

Beyond her entertaining content, Agnes also shared insights into her experience with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), which led to her being known as the coughing gran, and openly discussed grief following the death of her husband, George.

Her grandson had been providing updates on her health in the weeks leading up to her death.

She was initially hospitalized due to complications stemming from COPD, but subsequently suffered a series of strokes.

Her videos resonated with a broad online audience, particularly young people, worldwide.
