Former Kabul MP Sentenced to 5 Years, 2 Months

On June 16th, the Shaykhantaursky District Criminal Court concluded the open trial of Kabul Dusov (born 1984 in Samarkand region, previously convicted), delivering its verdict. This was reported by the Supreme Court press service.

The trial, presided over by Judge A. Mirzakhonov, found Dusov guilty on multiple charges.

The court found Dusov guilty under Article 139, Part 3, Clause “a” (defamation); Article 140, Part 3, Clause “a” (insult); and Article 237, Part 2, Clause “g” (false denunciation) of the Criminal Code. These charges involved five victims: the Ministry of Preschool and School Education, officials from the Navoi regional preschool and school education department, and a senior probation officer from the Chirchik Regional Internal Affairs Department.

Based on Articles 59 and 61 of the Criminal Code, Dusov received a sentence of 5 years and 1 month imprisonment. In accordance with Article 59, Part 8, this sentence was partially added to a previous sentence from the Arnasay District Court (February 24, 2025), resulting in a final sentence of 5 years and 2 months imprisonment in a general regime colony.

Furthermore, the court ordered the closure and blocking of Dusov’s Facebook account (“Kabul Dusov”) and Telegram channel (“Kobul Dusov/RASMIY KANAL/”).

Victims were informed of their right to pursue civil claims for compensation of material and moral damages.
