Tommy Fleetwood has surged to a four-shot lead at the St Jude Championship in Memphis, carding a six-under 64 before play was suspended in the second round due to inclement weather.

The 34-year-old Englishman, following an impressive opening round of 63, continued his strong performance with seven birdies.

A lone bogey on the 18th was the only setback for Fleetwood, who sits at 13 under, positioning himself favorably for a potential maiden PGA Tour victory.

Two-time major champion Collin Morikawa trails at nine under after a solid 65, alongside fellow American Akshay Bhatia in this opening event of the FedExCup play-offs.

England’s Justin Rose was on the 17th tee, among 21 players yet to complete their rounds when lightning prompted the suspension of play. He remains four shots behind Fleetwood.

World number one Scottie Scheffler concluded his round with a 66, placing him in the clubhouse at seven under.

Harry Hall of England posted a 72, leaving him at four under – one stroke ahead of Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre, while 2022 US Open champion Matt Fitzpatrick is at two under following a disappointing 71 marred by five bogeys.

The second round is scheduled to resume on Saturday at 13:30 BST.
