“Elf” Costume Nets £239,000 at Auction

A costume worn by Will Ferrell in the beloved film “Elf” has fetched over £239,000 at a recent auction.

Propstore, the Hertfordshire-based auction house, had anticipated that the iconic costume from the 2003 Christmas comedy could reach a price of up to £200,000.

The green and yellow ensemble was famously worn by Ferrell’s character, Buddy the Elf, during the memorable scene where he mischievously pushes every button in a New York City elevator.

In the same auction, held on Friday, a fedora utilized in “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom,” a film with scenes shot at Elstree Studios, commanded a price of £327,600.

According to Propstore, the “Elf” costume originated directly from the personal collection of the film’s producer, Jon Berg.

A representative from Propstore previously stated, “With only a limited number of costumes believed to have been created for the film, this remarkable provenance renders it an exceptionally desirable artifact from Christmas movie history.”

The Indiana Jones fedora attracted a total of 21 bids.

An original Boba Fett blaster prop from “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back” is projected to garner between £350,000 and £700,000 when it goes under the hammer on Saturday.
