“Elf” Costume Fetches £239,000 at Auction

A costume worn by Will Ferrell in the beloved holiday film “Elf” has fetched over £239,000 at auction.

Propstore, the Hertfordshire-based auction house, had estimated that the iconic costume from the 2003 Christmas comedy would sell for up to £200,000.

The green and yellow outfit was donned by Ferrell’s character, Buddy the Elf, during a memorable scene in which he gleefully presses every button in a New York City elevator.

In the same auction, held on Friday, a fedora used in “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom,” a film partly shot at Elstree Studios, sold for an impressive £327,600.

According to the auction house, the “Elf” costume originated directly from the collection of the film’s producer, Jon Berg.

A Propstore spokesperson previously stated: “With only a limited number of costumes believed to have been created for the film, its remarkable provenance renders it an exceptionally coveted piece of Christmas movie history.”

The Indiana Jones’ fedora attracted a total of 21 bids.

The original Boba Fett blaster prop from “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back” is anticipated to realize between £350,000 and £700,000 when it goes under the hammer on Saturday.

Numerous items from various film and television productions are being auctioned off in London during an event that extends through Sunday.
