Draper Withdraws from US Open Due to Injury

Jack Draper, Britain’s top-ranked male tennis player, has announced his withdrawal from the US Open due to an arm injury.

Draper, seeded fifth, entered the tournament as a potential title contender, following his semi-final appearance last year. However, his preparations were hampered by the aforementioned injury.

The 23-year-old managed to secure a first-round victory against Argentine qualifier Federico Agustin Gomez in a challenging four-set match on Tuesday.

He was scheduled to face Zizou Bergs of Belgium on Thursday.

“I gave it my utmost effort to compete and provide myself with every opportunity to play, but the pain in my arm has become untenable,” Draper stated via a post on X.

“I must prioritize my well-being and make the responsible decision.”
