Select bottles of Disaronno almond liqueur are being recalled due to potential glass contamination.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) issued a recall notice Tuesday for 700ml bottles of the beverage sold in England and Scotland.
According to a statement on the FSA website, Illva Saronno, the brand’s parent company, is recalling Disaronno Originale bottles over “the possible presence of small pieces of glass within some bottles of product, which could make it unsafe to drink.”
Authorities have identified seven specific batches that may contain potentially compromised bottles.
Retailers who sold the affected bottles will display recall notices, advising customers on appropriate actions.
The potential contamination is believed to have stemmed from an “anomaly on the bottle line,” as stated in the recall notice.
Impacted bottles bear the following codes: 25374, 25375, 25381, 25382, 25435, 25442, 25444. Consumers can locate these numbers on the bottle’s back.
This action follows a similar recall issued in the Republic of Ireland on Monday, concerning the same product and issue.
