Did Harry Styles’ Late Show Sketch Contain a Trump Reference?

The Duke of Sussex seemingly alluded to former U.S. President Donald Trump during a recent appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.

Prince Harry participated in a comedic sketch with Colbert, auditioning as himself for a “Christmas prince” role in a Hallmark Channel-style romantic television film.

Appearing beside Colbert, the Prince joked about being lost while searching for an audition for “Gingerbread Christmas Prince saves Christmas in Nebraska.” When the TV host questioned why a real prince would seek such a role,

Prince Harry suggested Americans were “obsessed” with Christmas movies and royalty. Colbert challenged this, prompting the Duke to reply: “Really? I hear you elected a king,” potentially referencing the “No Kings” protests directed at the Trump administration in October.

Those protests saw large crowds in cities including New York, Washington D.C., Chicago, Miami, and Los Angeles protesting against Trump’s policies.

Referencing CBS’s recent settlement with Trump, the Duke joked he would “do anything” to get the part, adding: “I’ll record a self-tape, I’ll fly myself to an audition, settle a baseless lawsuit with the White House – all the things you people in TV do.”

Colbert responded: “Hey, I didn’t do any of those things,” to which Harry quipped: “Maybe that’s why you’re cancelled.”

He was referencing The Late Show with Stephen Colbert ending in May 2026 after 33 years on air, in a surprise announcement from CBS in July.

The sketch then incorporated festive elements such as Christmas trees and sleigh bells, with the Duke encouraging Colbert to “just believe.”

Colbert later declared the Prince the “official Late Show prince of Christmas,” to applause from the audience.

Other guests on the show included Michael Shannon, star of the new film “Nuremberg,” and Irish actress and singer Jessie Buckley, who co-stars in the upcoming film “Hamnet” with Paul Mescal.

This marked the Prince’s second appearance on The Late Show. He previously appeared in January 2023 to promote his memoir, “Spare,” an episode that garnered significant viewership and global media attention.

The Duchess of Sussex shared a clip from the Prince’s latest appearance on her Instagram story.
