Chelsea requires a draw in their final match to secure a place in the Club World Cup’s Round of 16 alongside Manchester City.
The Club World Cup group stage concludes with several crucial matchups.
High stakes remain across multiple groups.
The top two teams from each group advance to the Round of 16. Head-to-head results precede goal difference as tiebreakers.
Manchester City, one of six teams already qualified, could face Real Madrid in the next round. Chelsea needs a point to progress, potentially setting up a clash with Bayern Munich.
BBC Sport analyzes each group’s standings and qualification scenarios.
PSG advances to Club World Cup Round of 16 after victory over Seattle
Botafogo secures Round of 16 berth, eliminating Atletico Madrid
Inter Miami v Palmeiras, Porto v Al Ahly – Tuesday, 24 June (02:00 BST)
A draw sends both Inter Miami and Palmeiras to the knockout stage.
However, a win for either team opens the door for Porto or Al Ahly to advance depending on the result. Porto requires an Inter Miami win, while Al Ahly needs a Palmeiras victory, as head-to-head records would otherwise eliminate them.
Paris St-Germain and Botafogo have secured their Round of 16 berths.
PSG topped Group B with a 2-0 win over Seattle Sounders, while Botafogo clinched second place despite a 1-0 loss to Atletico Madrid.
PSG, as group winners, will face the Group A runner-up, while Botafogo will play the group winner. Atletico and Seattle are eliminated.
Auckland City v Boca Juniors, Benfica v Bayern Munich – Tuesday, 24 June (20:00 BST)
Bayern Munich has already qualified, and Auckland City is eliminated. Benfica needs a draw to secure their spot. Boca Juniors requires a Benfica loss and a victory of their own, coupled with a significant goal difference swing, to advance.
ES Tunis v Chelsea, Los Angeles v Flamengo – Wednesday, 25 June (02:00 BST)
Flamengo has qualified as group winners, and Los Angeles is eliminated. Chelsea advances with a draw or win against Esperance Sportive de Tunis; a Tunisian victory sends them through instead.
Chelsea, should they qualify, would play the winner of Group C, either Bayern Munich or Benfica.
Inter Milan v River Plate, Urawa Reds v Monterrey – Thursday, 26 June (02:00 BST)
The Inter Milan-River Plate winner advances; a draw suffices for both unless Monterrey wins. If Monterrey wins and the other game is a draw, various scenarios are possible depending on the scores, potentially leading to tiebreakers.
Urawa Reds are eliminated.
Borussia Dortmund v Ulsan HD, Mamelodi Sundowns v Fluminense – Wednesday, 25 June (20:00 BST)
Fluminense and Borussia Dortmund both need a point to qualify. Mamelodi Sundowns advance with a win; Ulsan HD are eliminated.
Juventus v Manchester City, Wydad Casablanca v Al Ain – Thursday, 26 June (20:00 BST)
Juventus and Manchester City have already qualified. City needs a win to top their group.
The group winner faces the Real Madrid group’s runner-up, while the group’s second-place team plays the Group H winner.
Al-Hilal v Pachuca, Red Bull Salzburg v Real Madrid – Friday, 27 June (02:00 BST)
The Salzburg-Real Madrid winner tops the group; the loser is eliminated if Al-Hilal defeats Pachuca. A draw between Salzburg and Real Madrid, coupled with an Al-Hilal win, creates a three-way tie. Real Madrid would likely advance due to superior goal difference.
Further tiebreakers, including disciplinary points or a draw, could be necessary.
