Charley Marlowe Transitions from TikTok to BBC Radio 1 Presenter

TikTok personality Charley Marlowe is slated to join BBC Radio 1 as a summer presenter, the broadcaster has announced.

Marlowe, who also narrates BBC Three’s “I Kissed A Girl,” will host the Early Breakfast show on Fridays, commencing in August.

She expressed her enthusiasm, stating she’s “absolutely buzzing” and intends to play “as much Jane McDonald and Kylie Minogue as the BBC allow.”

The station has also announced several other schedule adjustments, including Jamie Laing of “Made in Chelsea” taking a temporary leave from the Going Home show due to filming obligations.

Sam MacGregor and Danni Diston will cover his afternoon slot until September, at which point Jamie will be reunited with co-host Katie Thistleton upon her return from maternity leave.

This follows a prior schedule adjustment just over a month ago, when Radio 1 executives announced that Jamie would temporarily be joined by his wife, Sophie Habboo.

Concurrently, they revealed that another social media figure, GK Barry, would be joining the lineup.

The TikTok star and “I’m a Celeb” participant’s summer residency as the weekend afternoon host begins this Saturday.

The summer schedule will also see Greg James’ Breakfast show extended by an additional half-hour each weekday, starting from 21 July and continuing through September.

Tskenya Frazer will co-host Life Hacks with Lauren Layfield for July, following a successful stint during the 2024 festive period as part of the station’s Christmas Takeover.

“I am so looking forward to bringing my lived experience and hearty vibes to the show,” she stated.

She will then swap with DJ and former Capital Xtra’s Breakfast Show presenter Yinka Bokinni for the month of August.

The station also outlined plans for live coverage of TRNSMT, Boomtown, Ibiza, Malta, and the Reading and Leeds festivals, including headline sets and exclusive backstage access.

The station, aspiring to launch on digital radio shortly, is commemorating the day with an outside broadcast.
