“Central Asia-Republic of Korea Summit Postponed to 2026”

The “Central Asia – Republic of Korea” summit, initially scheduled for this year, has been postponed to 2026, according to a report by Dunyo News Agency.

South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency reports that the decision was confirmed by First Vice Foreign Minister of South Korea, Park Yun-je, during a session of the parliamentary committee on international affairs.

The postponement is reportedly due to political changes in South Korea following the failed attempt to impose martial law by former President Yoon Suk-yeol.

“After considering all relevant circumstances, including our own internal schedule, it became difficult to propose an acceptable date within this year,” the First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs stated at the event.

In June of last year, the Central Asian nations and South Korea agreed to organize a summit coinciding with then-President Yoon Suk-yeol’s visit to the region, with the inaugural heads of state meeting planned for Seoul in 2025.

As a reminder, the attempt to impose martial law in South Korea led to early elections, resulting in Lee Jae-myung, the candidate from the “Toburo” Democratic Party, becoming the new head of state, while the previous president was impeached and removed from office.
