Spoiler warning: This article reveals the winners of Celebrity Race Across the World.
Roman Kemp, the broadcaster, and his sister Harleymoon, a singer-songwriter, have emerged victorious in the latest season of the BBC’s ‘Race Across the World’.
The duo secured the top spot, reaching the final checkpoint ahead of the other three competing pairs after a 33-day journey spanning 5,900km (3,600 miles) through Central America.
Kemp and Harleymoon arrived at the finish line just two minutes ahead of ‘EastEnders’ actress Molly Rainford and her fiancé, TV and radio presenter Tyler West. Broadcaster Anita Rani and her father, Bal, completed the race six hours later.
Dylan Llewellyn, known for his role in ‘Derry Girls’, and his mother, Jackie, finished in fourth place, having made the decision to withdraw from the race earlier in the episode due to limited funds.
The final episode, broadcast on Wednesday, covered the last leg of the journey: a 1,000km route from Medellín to the Guajira Peninsula in Colombia.
Throughout the series, the teams traversed various countries, including Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Costa Rica, and Panama.
Contestants were tasked with completing the journey without the use of mobile phones or air travel, operating on a budget of £950 per person – the equivalent cost of a flight covering the same route.
This installment marked the BBC’s third celebrity edition of ‘Race Across the World’, consistently drawing in approximately six million viewers.
Roman and Harleymoon Kemp are the offspring of Martin Kemp of Spandau Ballet fame and his wife, Shirlie.
Roman Kemp is recognised as a co-host on BBC One’s ‘The One Show’ and formerly as a DJ on Capital’s breakfast show, while Harleymoon Kemp has been pursuing a career as a country singer for the past five years.
The final segment of the race involved a combination of transportation methods, including a 4×4 vehicle, a boat ride, and a foot race up a cliffside. Roman Kemp described the experience as “the most adrenaline, most emotion that I’ve had ever”.
Harleymoon Kemp added, “I’ve never run like that in my whole life.”
Molly Rainford, 25, is currently portraying Anna Knight in ‘EastEnders’ (since 2023) and previously reached the final of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ in 2022.
She and Tyler West, a radio host on Kiss, met while both were contestants on the same series of ‘Strictly’, and they announced their engagement earlier this year.
Anita Rani, co-host of BBC Radio 4’s ‘Woman’s Hour’ and BBC One’s ‘Countryfile’, participated in the race alongside her father, Balvinder Singh Nazran, a semi-retired businessman.
Dylan Llewellyn, paired with his mother Jackie, is best known for his role as James in the acclaimed sitcom ‘Derry Girls’, as well as his performances in ‘Big Boys’ and ‘Beyond Paradise’.
