Brooklyn Peltz Beckham has issued a statement addressing the purported strain in his relationship with his parents, asserting he has “no desire to reconcile.”
Peltz Beckham, the eldest child of David and Victoria Beckham, has accused his parents of “endlessly trying to undermine”
his relationship with his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham, both leading up to and following their 2022 wedding.
“My wife has been consistently disrespected by my family, despite our best efforts to foster unity,” he stated in a recent Instagram post.
Rumors of a family rift have been circulating for several months. The BBC has reached out to representatives for David and Victoria Beckham for comment on the matter.
To date, the Beckhams have not publicly acknowledged any discord.
“For years, I have maintained silence and diligently worked to keep these matters private,” the 26-year-old wrote in a series of posts to his 16 million followers.
“Regrettably, my parents and their associates have persisted in engaging with the press, leaving me with no alternative but to speak for myself and address the falsehoods that have been disseminated.”
He alleged he had been subjected to “constant attacks from my parents, both in private and through orchestrated leaks to the press.”
Detailing his wedding arrangements, he accused his fashion designer mother of “canceling the creation of Nicola’s wedding dress at the last minute, despite her initial enthusiasm to wear her design, thereby compelling her to urgently seek an alternative.”
Reports at the time suggested that Nicola, 31, had declined to wear a design by Victoria Beckham.
However, the American actress later clarified to The Times that her mother-in-law realized her atelier could not complete the dress in time, dismissing claims of a feud.
He further accused Victoria Beckham of “hijacking” their first dance.
“In the presence of 500 wedding guests, Marc Anthony summoned me to the stage, where, according to the schedule, I was meant to have a romantic dance with my wife, but instead, my mother was waiting to dance with me,” he recounted.
“Her behavior was highly inappropriate in front of everyone. I have never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my life.”
He indicated that he and his wife have decided to renew their vows in 2025 to forge new memories “that will bring us joy and happiness, rather than anxiety and embarrassment.”
Peltz Beckham also asserted that his parents had “repeatedly pressured and attempted to bribe me into relinquishing the rights to my name” in the weeks leading up to the wedding. The specific rights in question remain unclear.
He stated that his refusal to comply “affected the payout, and they have not treated me the same since.”
“My family prioritizes public promotion and endorsements above all else,” he wrote.
“‘Brand Beckham’ comes first.”
In his post, Peltz Beckham revealed that he and his wife traveled to London for David Beckham’s birthday, only to be “ignored for a week as we waited in our hotel room, attempting to plan quality time with him.”
The couple’s absence from David Beckham’s 50th birthday party in May, coupled with their lack of online birthday messages, further fueled speculation of a rift.
“He declined all of our attempts, except for an appearance at his large birthday party with hundreds of guests and cameras at every turn,” the influencer wrote.
He said that his father “eventually agreed” to meet with him but stipulated that his wife not be present, which he described as a “slap in the face,” adding that his family subsequently refused to see him during a trip to Los Angeles.
The eldest son also claimed that his younger brothers had been “instructed to attack me on social media before abruptly blocking me this past summer.”
In December, Cruz Beckham, 20, refuted a Daily Mail report claiming that their parents had unfollowed their son, stating that they would “never unfollow their son.”
“That’s not true. My mum and dad would never unfollow their son. Let’s get the facts right,” he posted on Instagram.
“They woke up blocked, as did I.”
Former England football captain David Beckham and ex-Spice Girl Victoria Beckham have three other children: Romeo, 23, Cruz, and Harper Seven, 14.
