Brazil Hot Air Balloon Crash Kills at Least Eight

At least eight fatalities have been reported in a hot air balloon accident in Brazil, according to the state governor.

Twenty-one individuals were aboard the balloon in Praia Grande on Saturday morning, Santa Catarina Governor Jorginho Mello confirmed via a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Mello stated that thirteen passengers survived, while eight perished. Rescue teams remain on-site, actively searching for any additional casualties.

The governor expressed profound shock at the tragedy, stating, “We are all deeply saddened by this accident.” He further added, “Our teams are providing comprehensive support to the affected families and victims. We continue to monitor the situation closely.”
