Benson Boone’s Birmingham concert has been cancelled due to illness, approximately one hour before its scheduled start time.
The US singer-songwriter issued a statement via his Instagram account, expressing his apologies to fans. He stated that he had “tried everything” to recover his voice, but the “condition of my throat” would prevent him from delivering the performance he intended.
Boone was slated to perform at the city’s Utilita Arena on Saturday evening as part of his American Heart Tour.
The singer also noted that he is collaborating with his team to identify a date for rescheduling the concert as soon as possible.
“I promise you I will do everything in my power to make it up to you,” he affirmed.
The Utilita Arena corroborated the cancellation in a statement, adding that they are “working through all possible options to reschedule” the event.
“We understand how disappointing this is and sincerely apologise for the extremely short notice and inconvenience caused,” the venue’s statement concluded.
At this time, Boone has not confirmed whether his upcoming three dates in London, scheduled to begin on Monday and conclude the UK leg of his tour, will proceed as planned.
