Bayern Munich Finalizes £65.5M Transfer Agreement with Liverpool for Luis Diaz

Bayern Munich have reportedly reached an agreement with Liverpool for the transfer of Luis Diaz, with the deal expected to be worth €75 million (£65.5 million) including performance-related add-ons.

The Merseyside club is said to have turned down an initial offer of £58.6 million from the German champions earlier this month.

Diaz, 28, was conspicuously absent from Liverpool’s squad during their 4-2 pre-season defeat to AC Milan in Hong Kong amid growing speculation regarding his future.

Sources indicate that Liverpool have granted Diaz permission to travel from Asia to Europe in the coming days to undergo a medical examination.

Liverpool have already bolstered their attacking options this summer with the signings of Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike, and are reportedly monitoring Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak.

Diaz initially joined Liverpool from Porto in January 2022 for a fee of £37 million. He has since made 148 appearances for the club, scoring 41 goals, including 13 during Liverpool’s Premier League-winning season.

His 17 goals across all competitions in the 2024-25 season marked the most prolific campaign of his career to date.

Bayern Munich secured their 34th Bundesliga title in the 2024-25 season, scoring a league-leading 99 goals. However, their campaign saw them reach only the last 16 of the German Cup and exit the Champions League in the quarter-finals.

Diaz is expected to provide a valuable attacking presence for Bayern, particularly in light of Jamal Musiala’s “long-term” absence following a broken leg and dislocated ankle sustained at the Club World Cup.
