Aston Villa have reportedly engaged in discussions with West Ham regarding a potential loan move, with an obligation to buy, for midfielder Lucas Paqueta.
BBC Sport sources indicate that preliminary talks have revolved around a comprehensive financial arrangement of approximately £50 million, encompassing the loan fee and subsequent permanent transfer next summer.
Insiders suggest West Ham’s preference is to retain Paqueta, leaving the ultimate decision on sanctioning the transfer uncertain.
However, the 28-year-old is believed to be receptive to a move to Villa prior to Monday’s transfer deadline.
The Brazilian attacking midfielder participated in regular training with his West Ham colleagues on Saturday, ahead of their scheduled match against Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
While he was initially anticipated to travel for the City Ground fixture, his future with the London Stadium club is now under scrutiny.
Tottenham Hotspur and Everton are also understood to hold an interest in acquiring Paqueta.
