Amanda Anisimova has emphatically avenged her defeat to Iga Swiatek in the Wimbledon final, securing a stunning victory over the second seed to advance to the US Open semi-finals.
Just 53 days prior, Swiatek of Poland dominated Anisimova 6-0 6-0 to claim the title in a one-sided affair at SW19.
However, the American demonstrated her capabilities in a 6-4 6-3 victory during a high-caliber match in New York.
Eighth seed Anisimova, in a marked contrast to the Wimbledon final, appeared confident and composed, delivering 23 winners as her powerful game unsettled Swiatek.
“I’ve been having the run of my life here,” the 24-year-old stated.
“When I first arrived, I thought, ‘Let’s just try to get through one round.’
“This has truly been a dream. To bounce back from Wimbledon like this is incredibly meaningful to me.
“I dedicated myself to improving since then. Today proved that I can do it.”
Anisimova is set to face either four-time major champion Naomi Osaka or Czech 11th seed Karolina Muchova in the semi-finals.

GB’s Hewett, Slade and Lapthorne into second round
Anisimova, who took a two-year break from the sport in 2022 to prioritize her mental health, has displayed remarkable resilience in reaching another major semi-final so soon.
When Swiatek broke Anisimova’s serve in the opening game of the quarter-final, memories of the Wimbledon final may have threatened to resurface.
However, Anisimova maintained her game plan. She aggressively targeted Swiatek’s serve, immediately breaking back, and showcased exceptional skill on the backhand while serving effectively.
She capitalized on the Pole’s second serve, winning 12 of 17 points, and secured a crucial break to win the first set.
Swiatek took a break between sets and returned with renewed intensity, again breaking immediately and consolidating with a hold.
Anisimova could have been forgiven for recalling Wimbledon, but she remained composed and broke back two games later.
She broke in the eighth game to create an opportunity to serve for the match, prompting Swiatek to seek guidance from her coaching box.
Anisimova, supported by the home crowd, displayed composure as she served out the match to reach her third Grand Slam semi-final.
