Actress and comedian Amy Schumer has announced her separation from husband Chris Fischer, a chef, after seven years of marriage.
In a social media post shared Friday, the Trainwreck star revealed the “difficult decision” alongside a photo of the pair on a subway. They will reportedly continue to co-parent their six-year-old son.
“Amicable and all love and respect! Family forever,” Schumer stated.
Schumer, 44, and Fischer, 45, wed in February 2018 and welcomed their son the following year.
Schumer lightheartedly addressed the separation in her Instagram post, clarifying that it was not “because I dropped some lbs” nor because Fischer is an “award winning chef who can still pull some hot tail”.
Fischer received the James Beard award in 2015 within the American Cooking category for his Beetlebung Farm Cookbook: A Year of Cooking on Martha’s Vineyard.
The couple previously co-starred in the Food Network reality series Amy Schumer Learns to Cook, which aired during the Covid-19 pandemic.
They also appeared in the documentary series Expecting Amy, which chronicled Schumer’s pregnancy journey, during which she was open about her experience with endometriosis.
Schumer’s acting credits include the sketch comedy show Inside Amy Schumer, the 2015 film Trainwreck, and 2018’s I Feel Pretty.
She also wrote, directed, and starred in the sitcom Life & Beth.
Fellow celebrities and friends of Schumer offered words of support in the comments section of her Instagram post.
Actress Sophia Bush commented that divorce “is so damn hard without having it be hard for the world to see… so when the world sees I’ll just say be extra gentle with yourself”.
Gayle King wrote: “Amy been there never easy. Only YOU could make THIS announcement w/humor & love”.
