Allen Wins Heavyweight Rematch in Fifth Round TKO

Dave Allen secured a decisive fifth-round stoppage victory against Johnny Fisher in their heavyweight rematch at London’s Copper Box Arena.

Fisher narrowly won their first encounter in December via points decision, a result many considered controversial, favoring Allen.

Following a cautious opening, the 33-year-old Allen dropped Fisher with a flurry of powerful punches.

‘The Romford Bull’ regained his feet but was swiftly defeated, falling face-first after a ferocious left hook and right uppercut. His corner simultaneously threw in the towel.

“This means everything to me,” stated Allen, whose victory marked his 24th win in 33 bouts.

“I’ve been counted out so many times. I knew I possessed the skill, and at the right level, I’m a formidable opponent.”

Following medical attention, Fisher departed without a post-fight interview. He later posted on Instagram: “I wasn’t good enough tonight, but that’s boxing, that’s sport.

“The best keep pushing, keep going, and don’t let setbacks define them.”

Fisher was also knocked down in the fifth round of their first fight.

Allen, introduced as ‘the people’s champ,’ received a warm reception.

Fisher, largely due to his social media presence and his father’s ‘bosh’ catchphrase, is a major draw in British boxing.

His ring walk to John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads” energized the nearly full 8,000-seat arena, dubbed ‘Copper Bosh’ by Team Fisher.

Allen’s telegraphed overhand rights proved ineffective early on, with Fisher landing jabs, resulting in a slow start.

Fisher, who previously knocked out Alen Babic in the first round at the same venue, landed stinging uppercuts in the third, receiving a warning for punching after the break.

The fervent ‘Bull Army’ created a stark contrast to the subdued atmosphere of their first fight in Saudi Arabia.

Allen remained patient, seizing his opportunity. Similar to their first fight, he sent Fisher to the canvas with raw power and determination.

This was followed by a spectacular knockout, eliciting gasps from the crowd.

Maintaining their friendship from years of sparring, Allen delayed his celebrations until Fisher recovered.

Allen paid tribute to his “friend” Fisher post-fight.

With limited amateur experience before turning pro, Fisher enjoyed a string of impressive knockout victories.

However, this significant loss to the experienced Allen raises questions about his standing at the domestic level.

Allen, meanwhile, exited the ring jubilant, embraced by trainer Jamie Moore.

The self-styled ‘Doncaster De la Hoya’ – a nod to Oscar de la Hoya – Allen has cultivated a dedicated fanbase with his candid, honest, and self-deprecating approach.

“I can now afford an en suite,” he quipped post-fight.

Before the rematch, Allen planned to box for another 22 months – until his 35th birthday – content with being a gatekeeper for British prospects. His recent win might just elevate his ambitions.
