During the Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia in 2025, eight citizens of Uzbekistan passed away, reports Dunyo News Agency.
It is reported that over 15,000 Uzbek citizens participated in the “Hajj-2025” season this year.
The successful conduct of the pilgrimage season was ensured jointly by the Committee on Religious Affairs of Uzbekistan, the Muslim Board, and the Embassy and Consulate of Uzbekistan in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The measures taken by the government of Uzbekistan to prepare for and organize the “Hajj-2025” season were highly appreciated by Saudi Arabia.
The arrival of Uzbek pilgrims in Saudi Arabia for the Hajj this year began on May 13 and lasted until May 30. The return to Uzbekistan lasted from June 12 to June 29.
To facilitate the return of pilgrims to Uzbekistan, daily direct flights were operated from King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah to several regions of the country.
Despite the government’s efforts to ensure the well-being of Uzbek pilgrims, and due to the pilgrimage coinciding with a hot time of year, four citizens with chronic illnesses passed away.
“In addition, four citizens of Uzbekistan who arrived in Saudi Arabia illegally, despite warnings from the Muslim Board, died during the Hajj. Due to using unauthorized routes, they were unable to access medical services, and unfortunately, did not receive even basic first aid,” the report stated.
More than 40 pilgrims contacted diplomatic missions due to lost documents during the Hajj period. They are being issued certificates for return to Uzbekistan.
The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Jeddah continues to provide all necessary consular and legal assistance to Uzbek citizens in difficult situations during the pilgrimage.
