Uzbekistan has launched its first domestic production of natural gas purification adsorbers that meet international standards, according to a statement from the Ministry of Energy.
The “Uzbekkhimmash” plant has initiated the production of adsorbers compliant with global benchmarks, marking a significant milestone for the nation. The initial batch has already been delivered to the Shurtan Oil and Gas Production Department.
This project, realized under the localization program, aims to satisfy domestic demand and bolster export capabilities.
Adsorbers are designed to remove sulfur compounds from natural gas. These large-scale columns measure 3 meters in diameter, with a wall thickness of 100 mm and a length of 19 meters, capable of withstanding pressures up to 63 atmospheres. Each column weighs 147 tons and is constructed from high-quality steel grade 09G2S-12 GOST 5520-17.
The adsorption process involves three stages:
The domestically produced adsorbers are noted for their high efficiency in removing sulfur compounds from natural gas and their extended service life. Under a contract with JSC “Uzbekneftegaz,” an additional eight adsorbers are slated for delivery to the Shurtan Oil and Gas Production Department.
Previously, these devices were imported, but the localization program has enabled domestic production, reducing costs by nearly half.
The facility has a production capacity of approximately 20 adsorbers per year, sufficient to meet domestic demand while expanding export opportunities. This development enhances Uzbekistan’s competitiveness in the international market, fosters industrial growth, strengthens the economy, and promotes technological independence.
